San Diego

We started our trip with Disneyland. It was a beautiful, sunny , 75 degree day in February in So Cal and we were definitely not the only ones who had planned a trip to Disney that day, but it wasn't as crowded as I remember as a child. Our longest wait was 45 minutes for Thunder Mountain, but it was well worth the wait. Cam had a blast riding every roller coaster that was available and after each one proclaimed excitedly he wanted to ride that ride again! He was not as interested in riding any "baby" rides like It's a Small World though. He covered his ears and pouted during that entire ride. He also really loved driving the cars on Autopia and was almost as good as his mom at driving ;). There are no pictures with the famous Disney characters because he covered his eyes and refused to go anywhere near Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, or Aladdin. He told me that he really didn't think they were real people in costumes, but the actual characters. I guess that total strangers, as long as they were human, would have been more comforting to him than the characters he watches on television coming to life. Kids!
We also spent some time in San Diego catching up with old friends for my birthday. We went to a nice dinner and dessert in which Cam slept through most of. It was nice for me to be with childhood friends again. We ended the trip with a stop at the beach in Carlsbad on our way up to visiting my Aunt Teri. Cam shares my love of the water--he had no interest in leaving and I was pretty content there myself. =)

Christmas Card Photo Shoot

It was the time of year again for Cameron to groan and moan as I dressed him up in a button up shirt, uncomfortable black suit coat, and tight fitting hat to be decked out for the Christmas card photo shoot. His favorite phrase when wearing anything but a plain long sleeve shirt and jeans these days is, "It bothers me." Every Sunday I get to hear that but I convince him of how lucky he is to even have nice clothes when some kids don't and he grudgingly dresses up for me. We went to beautiful temple square in downtown Salt Lake where it was snowing and got some great shots.
Cameron is loving Utah and the snow--we've been sledding every day since it started falling. He left for D.C. today to be with his dad for Christmas and New Years, so Christmas for me will be a lot more quiet this year, but I'm sure he's going to have a blast. Merry Christmas everyone!!
